The Ultimate Gift

I just watched the movie "The Ultimate Gift".

It got me thinking about my own life. As well as, how it relates to our own relationship with our Heavenly Father.

In the movie it is the greatest wish of the grandfather to give his grandson the "Ultimate Gift". The gifts of work, the value of money, the love of family and friends. He wanted to give him things money could not buy.
This young man only valued wealth, material things and himself. These are the same values the world keeps trying to sell to us on a daily bases.
This young man's world began to change as the the things he valued most were all taken away.

Could our Heavenly Father want to give us His "Ultimate Gift?"

We have been able to live in a country with great wealth. But "what if " all our riches and material items were all taken away, what would we have left? This happen to Job. He faced many trials and all he had was taken away.
Our times today seem so unsure. We can no longer put our trust in our retirement, house or jobs. We have all seem them slowly slip away.

In the case of the young man in our story. He faced many trials, but behind each trial was a blessing just waiting for him. Does the Lord have unseen blessings just waiting for us to discover? What must we do to see them unveiled?

Example, the young man was given a job to do. He first refused to do the job, he then did the job poorly and then it dawn on him if he did the job and did it right, he would receive "the gift."

I believe the Lord has a job for each one of us to do for Him. But, how many of us refuse His job or do the job He has given to us poorly.

What an awesome world we would live in if each Christian was doing the job that God placed before him and did it to the best of his ability. It is often said that 20 percent of the people, do 80 percent of the work in any given church. But if 100 percent of the people were giving a 110 percent of themselves to serve the Lord. Talk about blessings being poured out, like a rain shower falling from heaven.

I think God is asking each one us this question, "What do you value?"
Where you place your time and money will tell you what you value most.

Remember, He wants to give you His "Ultimate Gift".

New Direction

Well, I just got back Sunday night from all of the Christmas with family in Stockton and the excitement of my niece's wedding.

After all of that, Now what? has been the question I have been asking myself.

For the first time in 20 years I have no job to get up and get ready for. It has been a big change for me. I feel like a little lost soul lately.

I know others who are losing their jobs as well and going through all of this, so I know I'm not alone.

While I was in Stockton I would watch the evening news, big mistake. Watching the news can really make you feel like your sinking.

But it also made me think of the story of Peter in the bible as he got out of the boat to walk towards Jesus. For me, looking to the news and world reports is like looking at the storm beneath my feet. You do feel like your sinking.

But I must not look down into the sea or look to this world. I must look up into the face of my Lord. He is the only one who can calm the storm and give us peace.

Looking for the Lord's next direction, He has opened the door for me to go back to work for Child Evangelism Fellowship as a local missionary. I will be working 25 hours a week. I need to work full time to pay the bills. So I will be looking for another part time job and I will also need to raise funds to support the ministry. This will be my next faith walk with my Lord.

If you have never taken a faith walk with our Lord I can tell you, it is an exciting adventure. I heard these words in a song once "May Faith Give You The Courage To Dare To Do Great Things." How many of us "dare to do great things?" God has a great adventure for all of us. But taking that one step and trusting Him to lead and guide can be scary. You can't always see where He will be taking you next. I found that out. There will be mountains to climb and valleys to wade through. But He will faithfully guide you on the path He has set before you.

My next assignment from Him will be to open 3 new after school Good News Clubs in Monterey. Crumpton, La Mesa and Foothill will hopefully be our next 3 schools to open this spring.

Good News Clubs are like a high powered Sunday school class, but in the public schools.

We meet after school in one of the classrooms and do bible songs, games, memory verses, bible stories and missionary stories.

Last year I taught at Crumpton and I would faithfully have 20-25 kids come each Thursday. Seeing one of my ex-students in Wal-mart he yelled out " Hey Mom, it's the Church Teacher." Many of the children I taught did not go to church. So in this way we are able to bring church to them. This door of opportunity may not be open to us forever, so we need to take advantage of this time we have.

I will need helpers at each of these schools. If you would like to join me one day a week, for 1 1/2 hours, please let me know. Three people are needed as a team before we can open a school. Please also be in prayer for these schools and the children who attend them. Satan hates our children and has his own path he wants to guide them down. We need to love them even more and lead them to Jesus.

Thanks for your many prayers, God Bless.

The Lord's Many Blessings

Yesterday was my last day at my job. A job I loved very much.
It has been a hard 7 weeks leading up to this time, with many emotions; confusion, anger, sadness.
But the Lord has shown me that even in the valley times He is with us. As in the story of Joseph being sent to Egypt, it says that God was with him. Like Joseph, I feel God is with me, blessing me in ways I could not dream of.

I wanted to share with you some of those blessings as a testimony of God's hand at work.

1. A check for $200.00
2. Dec. rent paid for $540.00
3. A $40.00 gift card.
4. Christmas card with $1000.00 inside.
5. Christmas card with $300.00 inside.
6. Jan. rent paid for $540.00
7. A $40.00 gas card.
8. A card with a $300.00 Christmas blessing
9. Another card with $90.00 inside.
10. Health insurance paid for both Jan. and Feb.
11. Feb. rent paid for $540.00
12. Mar. rent paid for $540.00

This adds up to be over 3,000 dollars given by God's hand, by the heart of His people.

If you think their is no God, think again. The Lord likes to bless His people. You could be missing out on the many blessings the Lord has waiting for you. These blessings may not always be in the form of money. He does not always give us what we want, but He will give us what we need.

The Lord has truly been gracious to me through these many gifts. He is a loving Father.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
